About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline and current registration with a relevant provincial regulatory body. A minimum of two years' related experience is required, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning.

You will be expected to convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups. The successful candidate will be able to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders
  • Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide individual and group cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as psycho-educational groups
  • Participate in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention
  • Collaborate with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline
  • Current registration with a relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Minimum two years' related experience
  • Knowledge and skills in individual/group cognitive behavioral therapy, psycho-educational groups, and crisis intervention
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
