Occupational Therapist

The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. The Occupational Therapist collaborates with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain optimal function in self-care, productivity, and leisure areas. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up while working within the hospital, client's home, and/or community. The Occupational Therapist, in collaboration with the client, establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, independently manages a busy caseload, and uses clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues daily. The Occupational Therapist provides education and support to clients, families, and caregivers. The Occupational Therapist functions as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team. The Occupational Therapist contributes to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and to supervision of OT Assistants. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body, the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy, licensure with the provincial regulatory body, and excellent communication skills. The candidate will also have experience working with clients, caregivers, and families, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to clients, and will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
Hours- Long Assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Ending in April 2025 (Dates are subject to change)
$33.79 - $42.68 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
