Job Summary

The IWK Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to fill the role of Clinical Interventionist. This position will be part of an interprofessional team responsible for providing services to preschool-age children with autism and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate goal-setting processes with families to identify their child's needs and develop intervention plans.
  • Provide assessments and develop, implement, and coordinate intervention programs to address parent goals.
  • Contribute to family education and work within various intervention frameworks, including the 12-month intensive intervention model and manualized caregiver-mediated programs.
  • Provide direct supervision to Program Implementers and work collaboratively with Clinical Leaders and an Autism Advanced Practice Leader.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia.
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months and certification in First Aid.
  • Two years of recent experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6 years old) and their families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an interprofessional collaborative practice framework and independently with minimal supervision.
