Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Interventionist Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Clinical Interventionist Occupational Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing person-centered services to preschool-age children with autism and their families.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Provincial Preschool Autism Services, you will be part of an interprofessional team with a provincial service delivery mandate. Your primary responsibilities will include facilitating goal-setting processes with families, providing assessments related to identified needs, and developing, implementing, and coordinating intervention programs.

You will work within a variety of intervention frameworks, including a 12-month intensive intervention model, a manualized caregiver-mediated program, and focused interventions guided by care pathways. As a Clinical Interventionist Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct supervision to Program Implementers and contribute to family education.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist with a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. You must be registered or eligible for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia and have a valid minimal Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle. You must also have CPR certification within the last 12 months and certification in First Aid.

Two years of recent experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6 years old) and their families is required. You must demonstrate knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism and excellence in clinical care. You must also be able to provide assessment and development, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of intervention plans to address parent goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate goal-setting processes with families related to their identified needs for their child
  • Provide assessments related to the goal(s)
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate intervention programs
  • Work within a variety of intervention frameworks, including a 12-month intensive intervention model, a manualized caregiver-mediated program, and focused interventions guided by care pathways
  • Provide direct supervision to Program Implementers
  • Contribute to family education

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration or eligible for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia
