Funding Grant Manager

Within the Government of Alberta, the Manager, Program Unit Funding will be responsible for verifying claims for severe disabilities funding and Program Unit Funding grants. This role will ensure that children and students with diagnosed disabilities are identified consistently across the province. The Funding Grant Manager will communicate information to school authorities, parents, and external agencies about the grants for educational programming.

The primary function of this position is to ensure the department is meeting government's fiscal goal of cost containment. The Funding Grant Manager will be responsible for providing Department leadership and communication about Program Unit Funding and Severe Disabilities Funding to school authorities and department colleagues. They will also design and deliver engagement sessions for school authorities to inform them of the department's expectations for claiming the PUF and SDF Grants.

The Funding Grant Manager will interpret and clarify funding policy through ongoing communication with school authorities. They will communicate and interpret Education's grant policies for provincial professional colleges. The role will also establish and maintain strong and frequent communication of Education's grant and funding policies with colleagues in other government departments.

The Funding Grant Manager will determine the personal information needed for funding verification processes from the Corporate Data Warehouse. They will work closely with Information Technology to ensure the appropriate use of the data while maintaining its security. The role will review and recommend revisions to provincial policies, regulations, and standards. They will maintain current knowledge in educational research and pedagogy to support senior sector representatives with continual development and enhancement of service excellence framework.

The Funding Grant Manager will collaborate with other Education branches, sectors, and divisions, including Department Communications to ensure relevant considerations and key messages are included. They will review, edit, and revise briefings and other written materials produced by the team before sharing them with the Director and Executive Director. The role will promote and provide clarification of the department's inclusive education policy across branches, sectors, divisions, and with school authority leaders and their staff.

This role requires strong communication and leadership skills to provide Department leadership and communication about Program Unit Funding and Severe Disabilities Funding. The Funding Grant Manager must be able to design and deliver engagement sessions for school authorities and interpret and clarify funding policy. They must also establish and maintain strong and frequent communication of Education's grant and funding policies with colleagues in other government departments.
