Unit Manager Legal Claims Support Lead

At Intact Financial Corporation, we're looking for a seasoned professional to lead our Legal Claims Support team as a Unit Manager. This role is a great opportunity to leverage your expertise in litigation and management to drive business success.
About the Role
We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Unit Manager to oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of our Law Clerks, Legal Assistants, and Administrative Support members. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for establishing and communicating clear performance objectives, ensuring employee engagement, and assessing team strengths and areas for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the Law Clerks, Legal Assistants, and Administrative Support members.
- Establish and communicate clear performance objectives for your team and continually measure progress.
- Ensure a high level of employee engagement by monitoring overall engagement and creating engagement action plans.
- Assess team strengths and areas for improvement and provide recommendations.
- Provide regular and ongoing feedback, mentoring, and coaching to your team.
- Identify key talent and provide developmental opportunities.
- Lead the recruitment process, including interviews and onboarding.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, one-on-ones, and huddles.
- Assist your team in understanding and applying policies, procedures, and theories.
- Drive change and maintain effective communication.
- Plan and implement office systems and organize office operations.
- Partner with HR to lead the recruitment process.
- Participate in project-based tasks as assigned by Director and/or VP Legal Claims.
- Compile and analyze statistics and reports.
Requirements
- University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline (legal, paralegal, or management) or equivalent education combined with relevant work experience.
- Minimum of five to eight years of experience in a litigation environment or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of two years of management experience or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills to develop and foster favorable relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, I-Manager, and other e-discovery tools.
- Proven project management skills, including planning, leading, and executing projects.
- Experience implementing and driving change by encouraging innovative thinking and changes in an operation.
- Experience leading a large team, including establishing and measuring performance, providing open and honest feedback, and maintaining employee engagement.
