About the Opportunity

At Nova Scotia Health, we are seeking a dedicated Infant Feeding Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Early Years, this specialist will collaborate with the Early Years team to promote and support breastfeeding and healthy infant and young child feeding practices.

This role requires strong knowledge and skills in lactation consulting, as well as experience providing direct breastfeeding/infant feeding support and education. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related discipline and be certified as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant or obtain certification within three years of employment.

We are looking for a professional who can work collaboratively with families, front-line staff, and community partners to promote best practices in IYCF. This position requires travel between various community locations throughout the area.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related discipline (Dietician, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse)
  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant Certification or able to obtain within 3 years of employment
  • Minimum one (1) year related experience required
  • Experience providing direct breastfeeding/infant feeding support and education.
  • Experience providing infant feeding support in public health or community settings an asset.
Compensation and Benefits

$32.32 - $40.61 per hour, plus benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

This is a Permanent full-time position / 75 hours bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package.
