Job Summary:

The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Manager of Accounting. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team and contribute to the financial management of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and analyze financial data to inform business decisions and drive financial performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial planning and budgeting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Professional certification in accounting, such as CPA or CMA.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in the public sector or a unionized environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
