We are seeking a highly experienced accounting professional to join our team as a Strategic Accounting Director. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in external reporting and compliance.

About the Role:

  1. Oversee the preparation of consolidated external quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  2. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of the consolidated financial audit.
  3. Develop technical accounting guidance for business units on new accounting standards and implications.
  4. Provide leadership and expertise to the finance organization on accounting issues, implementation of new accounting standards, and identification of reporting issues.
  5. Determine accounting treatment for corporate transactions such as debt arrangements, hedging contracts, and acquisitions.
  6. Stay up-to-date with emerging IFRS regulations and applicable Canadian and U.S. rules over financial reporting.
  7. Ensure financial data integrity and compliance with company policies for areas under this role.
  8. Lead the preparation and review of all SEC reporting functions, including annual report, 10K, 10Q, earnings release, and XBRL tagging.
  9. Coordinate the filing of all internal and external financial reporting and ensure compliance with government and other regulators.
  10. Supervise a team of 2 direct reports and provide coaching, development, and succession planning.

About You:

  • Professional Accountant (CPA - CA) with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 10 years accounting experience and at least 5 years management level experience in external audit and/or a publicly reported company.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders and team members.
  • Ability to guide and supervise an external reporting and accounting policies team.
  • Proficiency in software such as JDE, OneStream, and/or Hyperion Financial Planning.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of complex formulas and reporting capabilities.
  • Effective use of presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint and/or Think-Cell.
  • Fluency in English and French, with Spanish as an asset.
  • This role requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees, or markets outside Quebec.
