Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Hospitality Associate - Portering to join our team at Trillium Health Partners. As a key member of our Patient Support Services department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth transportation of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients via bed, stretcher, or wheelchair to and from various locations, including patient units, laboratories, and the mortuary.
  • Assist patients in and out of bed, stretcher, or wheelchair, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Transport laboratory specimens from patient areas to specified laboratories, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Transport deceased patients by following established protocols and delivering them to the mortuary with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment in designated areas, including wheelchairs, stretchers, and other essential items.
  • Transport equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing disruptions to patient care.
  • Transport clean and soiled linen, adhering to strict hygiene protocols to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Use chemicals and cleaning agents to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of transport equipment.
  • Strip and make up stretchers, ensuring they are always ready for use.
  • Maintain open and timely communication with the Customer Support Call Centre and Leadership team via phone or in person, providing updates on patient transportation and any issues that may arise.
  • Perform other related duties as required, contributing to the overall success of our Patient Support Services team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education and/or equivalent experience in a support services role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, customers, and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, as required.
  • A positive work and attendance record, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance and professionalism.
