About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Indigenous Relations Coordinator to join our Environment team at Pomerleau Construction. As an Indigenous Relations Coordinator, you will play a key role in identifying, defining, and deploying initiatives and strategies to establish sustainable and respectful relationships with Canada's Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategy for building lasting relationships with Indigenous Peoples, aligned with best practices and internal initiatives.
  • Provide strategic advice on maintaining relationships with the communities, organizations, and clients.
  • Identify and monitor issues and needs of the communities, clients, and partners, and propose ways Pomerleau can support capacity building and mutual benefit.
  • Research and analyze regional, provincial, and national issues affecting Indigenous communities, advising management accordingly.
  • Cultivate ongoing relationships with key Indigenous communities and organizations where projects are located.
  • Collaborate with Business Development to explore potential business opportunities with Indigenous communities.
  • Contribute to the creation and negotiation of agreements and partnerships with Indigenous groups.
  • Support various departments in meeting Indigenous participation goals and requirements through tailored support and liaison efforts.

Requirements

  • University degree in environmental sciences, sustainable development, Indigenous studies, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Fluency in both official languages written and oral (English and French).
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous communities in Canada, especially in Quebec.
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous history, culture, and governance structures.
  • Familiarity with current legal and social issues affecting Indigenous Peoples and communities in Canada.
  • Available for occasional travel within Canada.
