Compliance and Safety Specialist

The Compliance and Safety Specialist - Commercial Transportation role at Cooper Equipment Rentals is a key position that plays a vital part in ensuring the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicle operations.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate drivers to ensure Federal and Provincial MOT compliance, providing training, education, and coaching as needed.
- Conduct reviews of motor carrier inspections and violations to identify root causes and recommend disciplinary actions when warranted.
- Perform site reviews to evaluate and improve operational compliance, working collaboratively with field associates and leadership.
- Continuously monitor compliance metrics to identify performance trends and implement improvements.
- A valid class 3 or 1 driver's license with air brake endorsement and clean driver abstract is required.
- Minimum 5 years of professional driving experience operating various trucks, with prior Class 1 driving experience considered an asset.
- At least 2 years of experience in a Transportation Safety Advisor (or similar) role.
- Ability to travel regularly for up to a week at a time to deliver training across multiple provinces.
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, to support our team members in their careers and provide opportunities for growth and development. This role requires a strong understanding of Provincial and Federal MOT regulations, including load securement, legal weights and hauling allowances, over-dimension permitting requirements, hours of service regulations, and commercial vehicle maintenance inspection processes.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands of this role include bending, sitting, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors as required by the job.
