Senior Safety Compliance Specialist

As a Senior Construction Safety Officer at Axiom Builders Inc, you will oversee and enhance safety protocols across our construction sites. Your fundamental role is to uphold our stringent safety standards by meticulously monitoring the site-specific safety plan and ensuring full compliance.
You will work on a marquee luxury high-rise in Vancouver that will be a 2-3 year project. Key responsibilities include:
- Staying updated on occupational health and safety regulations, maintaining relevant certifications;
- Monitoring and enhancing safety by tracking issues, maintaining records of incidents, and suggesting improvements;
- Conducting orientations, training, and safety coordination for workers and subcontractors;
- Performing safety inspections, hazard assessments, and providing guidance on tool and equipment usage;
- Leading emergency response, managing First Aid resources, investigating incidents, and collaborating on safety record management.
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong work ethic and lead by example. With extensive background in health and safety, you guarantee compliance with safety regulations in all aspects of the construction process.
The ideal candidate for this role has:
- Five or more years related experience in a safety position acquired in a construction setting;
- Compulsory Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2 (with transport endorsement) or OFA 3 accreditation;
- National Construction Safety Officer or similar accreditation through a recognized training authority;
- Additional training in safety an asset including WHMIS, CSTS, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and Aerial Work Platform;
- Thorough knowledge of applicable Provincial legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety;
- Effective time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including understanding accident prevention and cause analysis;
- Ability to coach, facilitate, and influence cultural and behavioral change in the workplace regarding safety;
- Post-secondary Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety an asset.
