Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at the City of Toronto. As a key member of our infrastructure planning and delivery team, you will be responsible for managing and delivering complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Management
    • Develop and implement detailed project plans, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of infrastructure projects.
    • Conduct research and analysis to identify project requirements and develop recommendations for project policies and procedures.
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring effective teamwork, communication, and high standards of work quality.
    • Support and facilitate interdivisional, interdisciplinary, and interagency teams to expedite capital works delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
    • Liaise with stakeholders, including the public, consultants, and other government agencies, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to advance capital works objectives.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage and administer assigned budgets, ensuring expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.

  • Technical Expertise and Innovation
    • Identify, evaluate, and provide technical expertise and recommendations for the resolution of issues with assigned projects.
    • Support the development of strategic and innovative approaches to sound capital works planning, coordination, delivery, and monitoring protocols.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Assist with the preparation of briefing notes, committee and council reports, and presentations.
    • Support interdivisional working groups, setting agendas, documenting programs, and reporting findings and conclusions.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement
    • Participate in studies, analyses, research, and help develop effective solutions for complex problems.
    • Foster and maintain cooperative working relationships within and external to the division.
Key Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary education in a professional discipline pertinent to municipal infrastructure planning and delivery combined with suitable relevant project management experience.
  • Technical Skills
    • Experience applying the principles of engineering related to technical design policies and procedures, engineering design and construction standards, specifications, and processes.
    • Understanding of geographical information systems (GIS) mapping processes and techniques.
  • Soft Skills
    • Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to collaboration.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide conflict resolution assistance in situations involving multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
