Responsibilities:

  • Opening and maintaining files, ensuring policies and procedures are followed in accordance with firm guidelines.
  • Preparing, serving, and filing court documents, such as Notices of Trial and Notice of Change of Lawyer.
  • Scheduling trial dates, discoveries, meetings, and conferences, and confirming dates with all involved parties.
  • Tracking deadlines to ensure compliance with court limitations.
  • Providing administrative support, including preparation of monthly invoices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary LAA program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in family law.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices, and procedures.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and desire to provide quality work.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential matters.
  • High client service orientation.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in file organization and time management.
  • Ability to work overtime if required.
  • Experience in Adobe, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
