At Hamilton Fabbro, a boutique family law firm located in downtown Vancouver, we are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support our diverse and unique client needs.

Compensation:

$65,000 per annum

About the Role:

This is a full-time opportunity requiring a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for preliminary drafting of correspondence and legal documents, understanding of legal procedures in family law, filing, file maintenance, calendar diarizations, and incoming/outgoing mail management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preliminary drafting of correspondence and legal documents
  • Understanding of legal procedures in family law
  • Filing, file maintenance and calendar diarizations, and incoming/outgoing mail
  • Managing business software systems
  • Fielding client inquiries via telephone contact/management
  • Liaising with legal assistants, lawyers, and clients on file progress
  • Assisting with the drafting of court documents, lists of documents, Separation Agreements, Minutes of Settlements, financial statements and summaries
  • General administrative duties

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Legal administrative assistant certificate/diploma from a recognized institution
  • 4+ years working as a legal assistant, with preference given to candidates who have experience in family law area
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook), Divorcemate, Adobe, BC Online, PCLaw
  • Ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing priorities
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality based on changing demands
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Mature, reliable and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
