Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investigator to join its Corporate Investigations Unit (CIU). The successful candidate will be based in Edmonton, Calgary or Central zone and will play a critical role in supporting the organization's commitment to patient care, employee safety, and public accountability.

Job Summary

This permanent full-time position involves conducting thorough, timely, and respectful workplace investigations, resulting in transparent outcomes that enhance the public's trust and confidence in healthcare. The CIU Investigator works closely with various internal and external partners, including HR Business Partnerships, Patient Concerns, Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, and Protective Services Team.

About the Role

The Investigator will have progressive experience within a large, complex, and diverse organization, with a strong understanding of advanced interviews, violence risk management, and testifying at judicial and/or quasi-judicial venues. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of post-secondary education or a combination of education and experience, with significant case management training and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough, timely, and respectful workplace investigations
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure investigations adhere to best practices and align with AHS' mission, vision, values, and core objectives
  • Provide investigative expertise, advice, and direction for workplace investigations
  • Navigate complex and sensitive workplace investigations, ensuring effective and engaged communication with team members and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Ten years of experience in an Investigative capacity, ideally in a larger organization similar in complexity and diversity to AHS
  • Advanced interviews experience and knowledge
  • Violence risk management training
  • A minimum of post-secondary education or a combination of education and experience
  • Major Case Management training and experience
  • Experience in testifying at judicial and/or quasi-judicial venues
