Groundwater Specialist Leader

We are seeking a seasoned Groundwater Specialist to lead our team in Edmonton. As a key member of our Environment & Water – Geo-environmental group, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality groundwater projects and contributing to business growth.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in hydrogeology and project management to drive success in our team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing effective field investigation programs, collecting and analyzing data, and communicating with clients and contractors.
- Overseeing technical guidance related to borehole drilling, well installation, and maintenance, as well as hydraulic well testing and surface and groundwater sampling.
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Bolstering business growth through proposal writing and industry contacts.
- Managing work schedules, controlling budgets, and collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Mentoring junior and intermediate staff to foster growth and development.
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or geosciences; a master's degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with provincial regulations and a willingness to adapt to project management and business development.
- Strong work experience in field-based investigations, particularly in physical hydrogeology, groundwater supply, and hydrogeological assessments.
- Demonstrated competency in soil and rock sampling, geotechnical soil and core logging, drilling, test pitting, well installations, water quality sampling, and hydraulic response tests.
- Proficiency in groundwater analysis using AquiferTest or AQTESOLV.
- Occasional travel may be required, necessitating flexibility and a willingness to conduct site visits.
- A desire to mentor team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Experience with numerical modeling using Modflow and FeFlow is considered an asset.
- Eligibility for overtime and hybrid work options when not in the field.
