This Full-time, Permanent Vacancy offers a competitive salary range of approximately $80,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.

Job Description

As a Sector Development Officer (Innovation & Emerging Technology Ecosystems) within the Economic Development & Culture Division, you will play a pivotal role in growing Toronto's global competitiveness by leading and investing in strategies that provide resources, services, and sector-specific branding to drive growth in the city's thriving tech sector.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the Economic Development and Culture Division in implementing the City's Economic Growth Agenda.
  • Manage assigned projects within approved budgets, ensuring effective teamwork and communication.
  • Prepare funding proposals to support tech ecosystem growth.
  • Provide strategic insights and data-driven analysis for planning and decision making.
  • Provide economic analysis, advice, and intelligence to businesses and stakeholders.
  • Support the development of marketing materials that highlight Toronto's strengths in technology and innovation.
  • Advise City Councillors and senior management on business issues.
  • Develop reports, press releases, and presentations for senior management.
  • Facilitate business network development.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Considerable experience in the Innovation and Emerging Technology ecosystem.
  • Experience building professional networks in the technology and innovation sectors.
  • Ability to analyze sectors and lead the development of sector policies.
  • Proficiency in business administration, research, marketing, and policy development.
  • Sound executive judgement and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to support a culture that champions equity and diversity.
  • Valid Ontario Class 'G' driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Location and Working Arrangements

This position is based at City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, Toronto, in a hybrid work environment (in-office and remote work). We offer a collaborative and dynamic work atmosphere.
