Job Summary
The Associate Director, Total Rewards is a strategic partner working consultatively with management and the People Services team. The role supports the strategic goals of the college and is responsible for services related to compensation and classification, benefits, employment agreements, and services related to these for all employee groups.
This position requires strong leadership, people development, and relationship building skills. You will provide support and direction to a team of HR professionals responsible for provision of these services.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and Operational Planning: Participates as a member of the People Services team. Contributes to the overall leadership of People Services through the planning, development, and implementation of the People Services strategic plan.
- Oversees and implements strategic and operational projects related to assigned portfolio across the College. Collaborates with the HRIS team on the acquisitions and implementation of existing or new HRIS software or point solutions to meet strategic goals and objectives for assigned portfolio.
- Ensures processes and systems are innovative, efficient, and effective and remove barriers to attract and retain a diverse range of candidates.
- Provides leadership, coaching and direction to a team of HR professionals including compensation and classification experts and other HR professionals based on portfolio responsibilities.
- Organizational Design, Job Design/Descriptions, Job Evaluation and Reorganizations: Oversees organizational design, job design and job evaluations. Provides advice and guidance to senior leaders in areas of restructuring and reorganization, by providing advice on matters that affect job design, compensation and organizational change. Leads reorganization discussions in collaboration with People Relations when unionized positions are affected.
- Benefits and Pension Management, Policies & Interpretation: Develops strategy and direction for VCC benefit offerings including developing integrated plan design changes that move the college towards its strategic goals and objectives and promotes sectoral mandates.
- Compensation, Reporting, Policy & Procedures: Oversees Excluded compensation including salary administration, placement, and performance increases within the Excluded Compensation Guidelines and the Accountable Compensation Direction established by Post-Secondary Employer's Council (PSEC) and Post Secondary Employer's Association (PSEA).
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field of study from a recognized educational institution. Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) is required. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation an asset.
- Eight (8) years of recent related experience managing compensation, job evaluation, benefits and pension programs in a post-secondary, multi-union environment.
- Experience leading compensation and HR professionals, project management, statistical analysis and report generation.
What We Offer
VCC offers a comprehensive compensation package that includes a salary range of $101,172 – $134,896 – $155,130 annualized (Pay Grid 13). Normal starting salary placement is between $101,172 – $134,896. Compensation beyond the control/mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employer's Council Secretariat (PSEC).
