Role Overview

We're seeking an Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will be responsible for managing a team of environmental professionals and providing subject matter expertise on greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria air contaminant reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop a deep understanding of GHG emissions within our organization, including asset types, operational activities, and quantification techniques.
  2. Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to ensure regulatory and non-regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  3. Drive strategic initiatives forward, including grant writing, GHG reduction technologies, and technical support on major projects and carbon management systems.
  4. Refine existing GHG quantification models and processes for data collection, tracking, and management.
  5. Support forecasting and analyzing GHG emissions and collaborate with other natural gas utilities on GHG quantification and reduction technology.

Requirements

  1. A bachelor's degree in science or engineering, plus a minimum of eight to 10 years of recent and related experience.
  2. A professional designation such as professional engineer, certified professional accountant, or in a related field.
  3. Experience with GHG quantification and modeling software such as OpenLCA, GHGenius, Workiva, or HIS Sphera.
  4. A demonstrated ability to conduct research to resolve problems related to GHG emissions or savings.
