Environmental Manager Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join our Impact Assessment & Permitting team in Burnaby. As a key member of our Environment, Ecology, and Permitting Department, you will be responsible for managing a team of environmental professionals and overseeing projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Develop, manage, and oversee all staff and projects for those directly reporting to this position.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate, manage, and direct project fieldwork and data collection efforts.
- Business Strategy: Develop, manage, and implement business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and deliverables.
- Culture Development: Promote a culture of high-quality work and Health & Safety within the team.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines.
- Recruitment: Oversee recruiting, interviewing, and orienting new team members.
- Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
- Utilization Management: Manage team billable hours and forecast utilization requirements.
- Strategic Planning: Set strategic team goals aligned with the environmental business line and evaluate outcomes.
- Team Motivation: Motivate and inspire the team while facilitating career development and growth.
- Communication: Communicate job expectations to staff.
- Work Environment: Foster a safe, inclusive, and productive work environment.
- Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff.
In addition to management responsibilities, you will also complete technical work in your area of expertise and collaborate with other business lines to cross-sell IAP services to clients.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Wetlands, Soils, or a related earth science field.
- Experience: 8 years of experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Driver's License: Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Education: R.P.Bio designation.
- Leadership Skills: High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational management skills and attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Work Experience: Work experience in environmental consulting, with technical expertise in an environmental discipline such as aquatics, vegetation, wildlife, soils, reclamation, or permitting.
- Team Management: Previous experience managing a technical team.
