About the Opportunity

Harbinger Network Inc. has been retained by Chandos Construction, a 100% employee-owned, first and largest B Corp Certified commercial builder in North America, to find a Chief Estimator to join their team.

About the Company

Chandos is a national technical builder and prides itself on listening and collaborating with the communities they are building for. Over 80% of their work is delivered using collaborative delivery models. While Construction Management & Design Build is their strength, they are the Canadian leader in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) as well. Their process goes beyond design and construction; it brings value to the communities they serve.

About the Role

The successful Chief Estimator will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all estimating functions. They will provide management, support and assistance to the estimating team. This individual's accuracy and leadership is critical to the profitability and success of the business and its ability to win bids and maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating team to achieve accurate and timely estimates
  • Develop and implement estimating strategies to improve profitability
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate estimates
  • Provide training and guidance to estimating team members
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction estimating; commercial or industrial construction is preferred
  • 10+ years of experience with larger complex project estimates
  • Degree or technical diploma in Engineering or Construction Technology
  • Designated Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) and/or Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) is ideal
  • Strong knowledge of estimation methods and techniques
  • Strong knowledge of construction management budgeting, design-build, and lump-sum tenders
  • Good negotiation and interpersonal skills – able to work with all personality types
  • Good client service and public interaction skills
  • Customer-focused; respond promptly to customer needs
  • Effective verbal, writing and interpersonal communication skills
