Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Consultant to join our team at Turner & Townsend. As a key member of our cost management team, you will be responsible for providing expert cost estimating and planning services to our clients in the real estate sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimating and Planning: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for various real estate projects, including commercial, institutional, and residential developments.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on construction market conditions in Canada, analyzing official published data to inform our cost estimating and planning services.
  • Business Development: Assist Associate Directors in identifying new business opportunities with existing and new clients, and contribute to the development of proposals for new work or variations on existing projects.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Construction Cost Estimate Reports: Prepare comprehensive construction cost estimate reports at all stages of design for various real estate projects.
  • Estimating and Cost Planning Activities: Manage estimating and cost planning activities, including taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Cost Analysis and Valuation: Ensure that cost analysis, cost checking, and valuation work is managed effectively.
  • Value Engineering and LEED Analysis: Participate in value engineering, LEED analysis, and life cycle costing activities.
  • Client Interface: Take a lead role in interfacing with clients and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Cost Estimate Production: Lead cost estimate production, ensuring that the team delivers on their accountabilities.
  • Financial Management: Utilize provided tools to track ongoing margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts for each commission.
  • Post-Contract Cost Variances and Change Control: Ensure that post-contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively.
  • Monthly Post-Contract Cost Reports: Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports to clients.
Qualifications
  • 7 years of MEP estimating experience (preferably in real estate)
  • A recognized university degree in construction or a related field
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization (i.e. RICS, CIQS, AACEI)
  • Certification or designation from a professional organization is an asset (i.e. MRICS, PQS, CCP)
