Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swim Instructor and Lifeguard to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Toronto. As a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard, you will be responsible for teaching swim lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, while also ensuring the safety of our members and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Teach swim lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, using a variety of teaching methods and techniques.
  • Conduct lifeguarding duties, including responding to emergencies and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our members.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of our members, while also ensuring that they are aligned with the YMCA's aquatic programs and services.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to members, while also promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure that our aquatic programs and services are delivered in a safe and effective manner.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and techniques.
Qualifications
  • Current certifications in the Lifesaving Society's National Lifeguard (NL) Award and Standard First Aid & CPR level C.
  • Current YMCA or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
  • Previous experience teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with members of all ages and skill levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
