Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Swim Instructor and Lifeguard to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Toronto. As a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality swim lessons to our members, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants in the pool area.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver swim lessons to members of all ages and skill levels, using a variety of teaching methods and techniques to ensure a fun and engaging learning experience.
  • Conduct lifeguarding duties, including responding to emergencies and maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the pool area.
  • Assist with the setup and takedown of pool equipment, and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the pool area is clean and safe.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement aquatic programs and services that meet the needs of our members.
  • Provide excellent customer service to members, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications
  • Current certifications in Lifesaving Society awards, including National Lifeguard (NL) and Standard First Aid & CPR level C.
  • Current YMCA or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
  • Previous experience as a swim instructor and lifeguard, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality programs and services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
