Recreational Programs Manager

Welcome to Southbridge Care Homes, a leading provider of long-term care services in Southwestern Ontario. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recreational Programs Manager to join our team at Résidence Pinecrest Nursing Home in Plantagenet, ON.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement recreational programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of our recreational staff, including music therapists and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to resident care.
  • Assess departmental needs and develop strategies to improve program effectiveness.
  • Recruit, coach, and mentor staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality programs.
  • Develop and manage program budgets to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Act as Education Lead for the Home, providing training and support to staff on recreational programming and resident care.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Team Conferences, Professional Advisory Care Conferences, and Quality Improvement meetings to ensure a collaborative approach to resident care.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of palliative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care principles.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating recreational programs for frail, elderly residents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, and MOHLTC standards.
