About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recreational Programs Manager to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a key member of our nursing home team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the departments' programs and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recreational, pastoral care, social work, and music therapy programs that cater to the diverse needs of our residents.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate therapeutic program development and delivery.
  • Assess departmental needs and create action plans to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and supervise departmental/program staff, including music therapists and volunteers.
  • Develop and manage departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participate in program delivery and ensure high-quality services are provided to residents.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programming budgets.
  • Coordinate the completion of MDS assessments on all residents within established timelines.
  • Act as Education Lead for the Home and participate in Interdisciplinary Team Conferences, Professional Advisory Care Conferences, and Quality Improvement meetings.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of palliative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care concepts.
  • Minimum one-year supervisory experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, with a command of English and French language.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, MOHLTC standards, and ministry of long-term care standards.
  • Previous supervisory experience in long-term care an asset.
  • At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience with persons in a health care setting required.
  • Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement, and supervision of volunteers required.
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required.
  • Flexible and willing to work on call when needed.
