Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recreational Programs Manager to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As a key member of our nursing home team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing recreational programs and staff to enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recreational programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents, including physical, intellectual, emotional, and social activities.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of recreational staff, including music therapists and volunteers, to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate therapeutic program development and delivery.
  • Assess departmental needs and develop action plans to improve program effectiveness.
  • Recruit, coach, and supervise staff to ensure excellent program delivery and resident satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage program budgets to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain accurate resident records and coordinate MDS assessments.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences, professional advisory care conferences, and quality improvement meetings.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of palliative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care principles.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating recreational programs for frail, elderly residents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a command of English and French language.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, and MOHLTC standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory experience in long-term care.
  • Experience with seniors in an organized program or in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of recruitment, selection, orientation, placement, and supervision of volunteers.
  • Experience in coordinating religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting.
