Recreational Programs Manager

Welcome to Southbridge Care Homes, a leading provider of long-term care services in Southwestern Ontario. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Recreational Programs Manager to join our team at Résidence Pinecrest Nursing Home in Plantagenet, ON.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement recreational programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents, including physical, intellectual, emotional, and social activities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and deliver therapeutic programs that promote resident well-being and quality of life.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, including music therapists and volunteers, to ensure effective program delivery and resident engagement.
  • Assess departmental needs and develop action plans to improve program effectiveness and resident satisfaction.
  • Manage program budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of resources and optimal resident outcomes.
  • Act as Education Lead for the Home, providing training and support to staff on recreational programming and resident care.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Team Conferences, Professional Advisory Care Conferences, and Quality Improvement meetings to ensure alignment with organizational goals and resident needs.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of palliative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care principles.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating recreational programs for frail, elderly residents using an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, MOHLTC standards, and ministry of long-term care standards.
  • Previous supervisory experience in long-term care an asset.
  • At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience with persons in a health care setting required.
  • Experience or knowledge in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement, and supervision of volunteers required.
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required.
  • Flexible and willing to work on call when needed.
