Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a skilled Recreational Programs Manager to lead our nursing home in Plantagenet, ON.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise recreational, pastoral care, social work, and music therapy programs.
  • Implement and evaluate programs related to physical, intellectual, emotional, capabilities, environment, and social domains.
  • Coordinate therapeutic program development and delivery with other departments.
  • Assess departmental needs and develop action plans.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and supervise staff, including music therapists and volunteers.
  • Develop departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participate in program delivery and development.
  • Manage programming budgets.
  • Update Resident Health Care Records as needed.
  • Coordinate MDS assessments for residents.
  • Lead education initiatives for the home.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and quality improvement meetings.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Knowledge of palliative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care concepts.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents.
  • Strong communication and language skills in English and French.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments timely.
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, and MOHLTC standards.
  • Previous supervisory experience in long-term care an asset.
  • At least one year of experience with seniors in an organized program or one year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Experience in recruitment, selection, orientation, placement, and supervision of volunteers required.
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to coordinate religious services and spiritual care in a multi-faith setting required.
  • Flexibility to work on call when needed.
