Southbridge, a leading provider of long-term care homes and retirement communities in Southwestern Ontario, seeks a Recreational Programs Manager to oversee programs and staff at Résidence Pinecrest Nursing Home in Plantagenet, ON.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Recreational Programs Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the departments' programs and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise recreational, pastoral care, social work, and music therapy programs.
  • Implement and evaluate programs related to physical, intellectual, emotional, capabilities, environment, and social domains.
  • Coordinate therapeutic program development and delivery with other departments.
  • Assess departmental needs and develop action plans.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and supervise staff, including music therapists and volunteers.
  • Develop departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participate in program delivery and develop programming budgets.
  • Create and update Resident Health Care Records.
  • Coordinate MDS assessments and participate in Interdisciplinary Team Conferences.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or related field.
  • Knowledge of palliative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care concepts.
  • Minimum one-year supervisory experience.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating individual and group programming for frail, elderly residents.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and proficiency in English and French.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources, program development, and MOHLTC standards.
