Celebrating 50 years of service, Ishtar Women's Resource Society is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women and children affected by abuse. Our mission is to provide safe housing, counseling, and education to empower our clients to live free from violence.
Position Summary
The Executive Director is a key leadership position responsible for implementing the strategic priorities identified by the Board of Directors to advance Ishtar's vision. This includes successfully meeting the organization's mission, acting ethically, and leading the organization in a way that minimizes and mitigates risk.
Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of the Executive Director include:
- Establishing and implementing management and human resources policies.
- Overseeing approved budgets and expenditures in accordance with Ishtar's financial control and administrative procedures.
- Ensuring all professional licensing and/or other accreditation requirements meet legal, regulatory, and other requirements.
- Planning, controlling, and administering all agency activities and operations in accordance with statutory, constitutional, and other requirements.
Project Management
The Executive Director will be responsible for:
- Approving and overseeing major program/project contracts and priorities.
- Providing leadership and direction to project teams.
- Managing project risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
Community Relations
The Executive Director will foster positive relationships with senior and other government officials, funding sources, donors, clients, and other community stakeholders. This includes promoting Ishtar's mission and increasing community awareness of Ishtar and its services.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred). They will also have sound working knowledge and understanding of issues impacting women experiencing violence, demonstrated experience in implementation of strategic priorities, fundraising, and fiscal management, and proficient use of technology including Office Suites and other web-based data management software.
