The Payroll Specialist will assist the Manager in documenting existing and new processes, identifying opportunities for efficiencies, and completing routine and ad-hoc monthly/annual reporting for various stakeholders. The role will work closely with the Payroll Coordinator and provide back-up for their responsibilities, ensuring accuracy in processing the National payroll for Diabetes Canada and National Diabetes Trust.
Key Responsibilities- Document all processes, including weekly processing, change management, and monthly/annual reporting, ensuring compliance with NDT/DC and legislative requirements.
- Create reports from Dayforce and Excel to support payroll monitoring, third-party reporting, and stakeholder requirements.
- Run and maintain accurate monthly Union reporting.
- Act as a go-to for clear and comprehensive interpretation of NDT's Collective Agreements.
- Provide oversight on payroll processing of benefits/retirement programs.
- Process bi-weekly, monthly, and annual payments to regulatory agencies, government agencies, and benefits providers.
- Complete year-end reporting, including tax statements, statutory withholdings, and government department reports.
- Collaborate with HR departments on benefit and retirement matters, ensuring payroll-related processes align with DC and NDT procedures and legislative requirements.
- Provide Payroll GL reports and assist in reconciling payroll and benefits clearing accounts.
- Support statutory and regulatory auditors' requests.
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- National Payroll Institute PCP certification and Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) completion or in progress.
- 5+ years of Payroll experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation.
- Knowledge of and experience in interpreting Collective Agreements.
- Intermediate level of Dayforce experience.
- Intermediate level proficiency in computer applications, including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
