Role Overview

The Government of Alberta seeks a skilled Health Program Specialist to support the development and implementation of health programs and operational policies. The successful candidate will assist in performance measurement and evaluation, and carry out short-term projects or be responsible for a component of a large project or initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Analysis: Provide analytical support to inform program development and implementation.
  • Grant Management: Assist with the management of grants and funding opportunities.
  • Change Management: Support the Ministry of Health in implementing changes to programs and policies.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and manage projects to support the achievement of strategic priorities.
  • Strategic Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to support the development of health programs and policies.
  • Communication: Develop and implement effective communication strategies to support the Ministry of Health's goals and objectives.

Policy Development

  • Strategic Policy Analysis: Analyze and develop policy options to support the Ministry of Health's strategic priorities.
  • Legislative and Regulatory Policy Analysis: Provide analysis and support on legislative and regulatory matters affecting the Ministry of Health.
  • Research Analyst: Conduct research to inform policy development and implementation.
  • Communication: Develop and implement effective communication strategies to support the Ministry of Health's goals and objectives.

Data Analytics

  • Data Analytics: Conduct data analysis to support the development of health programs and policies.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Quality and Performance: Monitor and evaluate program performance to ensure quality and effectiveness.

Planning and Governance

  • Capital Planning: Assist with the development of capital plans to support the Ministry of Health's strategic priorities.
  • System Planning: Support the development of system plans to ensure the effective delivery of health services.
  • Financial Planning: Assist with the development of financial plans to support the Ministry of Health's goals and objectives.
  • Corporate Planning: Support the development of corporate plans to ensure the effective delivery of health services.
  • Coordination: Coordinate and facilitate the work of the Ministry of Health's teams to ensure effective delivery of health services.

Information Technology

  • Business Analysis: Conduct business analysis to support the development of information technology solutions.
  • Application Development and Support: Develop and maintain information technology applications to support the Ministry of Health's goals and objectives.
  • Project Management: Coordinate and manage projects to support the implementation of information technology solutions.
  • Data Analysis, Mapping and Transformation: Conduct data analysis and support to ensure effective data management.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and effectiveness of information technology solutions.

Governance and Secretariat Support

  • Regulations and Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Public Agency Support: Support the development of governance frameworks and policies for public agencies.
  • Secretariat Support: Provide administrative support to the Ministry of Health's teams.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
