Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Autism Support Specialist to join our team at School District #91 (Nechako Lakes). As a Personal Attendant - Autism Support, you will play a vital role in providing assistance to teachers and other professionals in the delivery of regular or alternate programs of study for students with autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with autism, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist with daily living skills, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
  • Support students in developing social skills, including communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to support students with autism.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate)
  • Completion of an Education Assistant Certificate Program
  • Completion of POPARD program (30 hours)
  • BC Driver's License - Class 5 Full Privileged with an exemplary driving record
  • WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures
  • 6 months of experience working with people with behavioral disorders
