Job Summary:
The Tl'azt'en Nation is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our team. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with addiction and recovery by providing safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental emotional support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support for members who are struggling with addiction and recovery by ensuring they have access to medically prescribed treatments such as OAT.
- Pick up supplies or bring clients to the clinic to meet with medical practitioners both in community and Fort St. James.
- Participate in a weekly case management report to the Nursing and Mental Health departments to ensure informed decision-making around client care.
- Contact the appropriate person when an emerging medical issue is identified.
- Consistently check in on clients to provide support and assess their emotional and physical well-being.
- Take detailed notes for Health Centre staff.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Maintain confidentiality and live a clean and healthy lifestyle.
- Have a comfortable and confident demeanor and be comfortable interacting with people living with addictions.
- Experience working with people in addictions is an asset.
- Be computer literate and proficient with MS Word and email.
- Be able to provide a clear vulnerable sector criminal record check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Indigenous applicants who reside in Tl'azt'en Nation.
- Excellent grasp of the language and culture of the Nation.
- Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
