Radiology Technologist II, X-Ray Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiology Technologist II to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Diagnostic Imaging department, you will be responsible for performing radiological procedures for the purpose of medical diagnosis in the OR and in X-ray department as needed.
The successful candidate will be able to troubleshoot and ensure that diagnostic and accessory equipment is functioning properly. They will be responsible for performing radiological procedures for the purpose of medical diagnosis, including but not limited to:
- Assessing requisitions for appropriate examinations, views and equipment required
- Obtaining pertinent patient information
- Liaising and coordinating with the attending Radiologist and Surgeon while in the OR
- Ensuring patients are informed about procedures and are properly prepared prior to commencement of exams
- Selecting techniques to provide quality imaging while keeping radiation exposure to patients and staff as low as possible
- Practicing sterile technique when required
- Performing clerical duties related to the care of the patient
The successful candidate will work 75 hours biweekly, with variable shift lengths, rotating days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Your QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- A graduate degree in Radiological Technology from an approved school
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP)
- Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the last 12 months or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate
- Paediatric imaging experience is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Well-developed decision making, interpretation, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competency in other languages will be considered an asset; French preferred
