We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiology Technologist II to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Mammography Technologist II, you will be responsible for operating radiological and accessory equipment for screening and routine mammography examinations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality screening and diagnostic mammography with minimal supervision and display independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
- Assess requisitions for appropriate examinations, views, and equipment required.
- Obtain pertinent history and select techniques and positioning patients to attain quality images.
- Operate X-Ray equipment and adhere to ALARA radiation safety practices.
- Perform clerical duties related to the care of the patient.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiological Technology.
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals.
- Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support program within the last 12 months.
- Mammography positioning skills experience preferred, screening or diagnostics.
- Experience in breast ultrasound and interventional procedures an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- A high degree of mental and visual acuity, as well as reasonable manual dexterity.
- Must be willing to obtain continuing education as part of CAR Mammography Accreditation.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competencies in other languages an asset.
