About the Role

This exciting opportunity is for a Forensic Community Nursing Specialist to join our team at the Forensic Regional Clinic, Minimum and Medium Security Units. As a Senior Forensic Community Nurse, you will provide expert clinical leadership and support to our multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality care to individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical guidance and direction to members of the multidisciplinary team, promoting best practices in forensic psychiatric nursing and trauma-informed care.
  2. Client Care Coordination: Coordinate client care delivery, ensuring efficient and effective management of client needs, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.
  3. Education and Training: Develop and implement education programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge, focusing on Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
  4. Quality Assurance: Monitor client care and follow-up, evaluating quality of client care and outcomes, and ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and protocols.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Experience: Three years' of recent, related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness, including one year supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of nursing theory and forensic psychiatric nursing practice, broad knowledge of BCCNM standards of professional practice and Code of Ethics, and awareness of and commitment to learning about the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this role is between $95,000 and $125,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
