The estimated annual salary for this position is between $86,000 and $112,000 CAD, based on the hourly rate of $41.42 to $55.91 per hour.

Job Description

This Mental Health and Substance Use Nurse Specialist role is part of our team at the Willow Pavilion Older Adult Assessment & Treatment team (Willow Pavilion 5) at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work with clients experiencing refractory psychiatric conditions, providing individualized direct nursing care, discharge planning, and case coordination services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide comprehensive assessments and interventions to support client-centered rehabilitation and psychosocial rehabilitation programs.
  2. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and community resources to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans.
  3. Administer prescribed medications, monitor client response, and provide education on activities of daily living, medication use, and side effects.
  4. Document client care accurately and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
  • Completion of a minimum 6-week clinical practicum/preceptorship in a mental health setting, supplemented by coursework in mental health or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
