The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Cook to join their Operations & Maintenance Department in La Ronge, SK.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, managing food supplies, and supervising kitchen staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare healthy and nutritious meals for participants, incorporating traditional foods and wild meats.
- Supervise kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling to ensure seamless operations.
- Work closely with other staff members to harvest, plant, and grow fresh produce in the Greenhouse.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
- Manage food expenses, track inventory, and maintain optimal levels of kitchen equipment.
- Collaborate with staff to address special diets and ensure all participants' needs are met.
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent job-specific training.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Head Cook and in a supervisory role.
- College credits or relevant training courses in Hospitality & Food industry are preferred.
- Ability to use a computer efficiently.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to speak/understand Cree Language is considered an asset.
- Saskatchewan Safe Food Handling Certificate is mandatory.
- Class 5 Driver License and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, & SGI Driver Abstract are required.
