About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Manager, Vehicle Maintenance Engineering at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). This is a key leadership position that requires a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering, project management, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians responsible for the maintenance and repair of rail vehicles and related equipment.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies and plans to ensure the safe and reliable operation of rail vehicles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize maintenance projects and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for rail vehicle maintenance and safety.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resource allocation plans to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and suppliers.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (PEO) is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in rail vehicle maintenance and engineering, with a strong background in project management and team leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles, methods, and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
