We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Vehicle Maintenance Engineering to join our Rail Cars and Shops Department. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering, as well as excellent project management and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, manage and coordinate the work of the assigned Rail Vehicle and Maintenance Engineering section to ensure safe and reliable operations of all rail vehicles and related equipment.
  • Develop and implement effective and efficient organizational structures that implement approved budgets and annual goals and objectives.
  • Ensure professional accountability for high-quality work and timely reporting of financial and performance results.
  • Develop long-range plans for non-revenue rail vehicles, ensuring all equipment is in a state of good repair.
  • Support the new vehicle procurement engineering group in applying lessons learned from the existing fleet.
  • Promote a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a university degree in a related discipline (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (PEO) is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical engineering principles, methods and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of project management concepts and practices.
  • Strong technical design skills relevant to urban transit vehicles.
  • Strong familiarity with heavy rail operations and maintenance methodology.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business administration, budgetary and financial principles.
