About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our Child and Adolescent Services team, you will work with children and adolescents up to the 19th birthday, providing assessment and treatment for mental health or concurrent disorders.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multi-discipline team, including psychology, social work, psychiatry, addiction clinical therapists, and behavioral interventionists. Your responsibilities will include individual, family-based, or group therapy, as well as supervising case managers and behavioral interventionists.

We are looking for a team player who can work flexibly to meet the needs of our clients and the service. You will have the opportunity to create and provide evidence-based educational presentations to clients, families, other agencies, and fellow staff members on topics related to mental health and concurrent disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with mental health or concurrent disorders
  • Collaboration with a multi-discipline team to provide comprehensive care
  • Supervision of case managers and behavioral interventionists
  • Development and delivery of evidence-based educational presentations

Requirements:

  • Masters of Social Work with a specialization in a clinical or mental health stream
  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work
  • Two years' of clinical experience in an inpatient/outpatient mental health setting
  • Competence in assessment, intervention, and research
  • Specialized knowledge of acute and persistent mental illness and concurrent disorders
