Healthcare Social Worker

The Healthcare Social Worker is a key member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum. This role focuses on the relationships between individuals and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The social determinants of health are embedded in social work theory and practice, and are the focus for the dynamic and interactive process of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
About YouWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master of Social Work degree from an accredited university, or a Bachelor of Social Work degree with relevant experience.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW).
- A minimum of two years of clinical experience, with evidence of extensive knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to work independently with a multidisciplinary team, as well as with hospital and community-based services/agencies.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the social determinants of health and the ability to apply evidence-based practice to patient services. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Hours and CompensationThis is a casual relief position, with a competitive hourly rate of $49.05. The successful candidate may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
