About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting psychosocial assessments and providing adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, and resource counselling
  • Developing and implementing discharge plans and case management strategies
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care
  • Advocating for clients and their families to ensure their needs are met

We are looking for a highly skilled and compassionate individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality care. If you have a Master of Social Work degree and current registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers, we encourage you to apply.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with:

  • Strong counselling and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
  • Knowledge of issues related to family violence, sexual abuse, addictions, grief and loss, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving, and continuum of care
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising

Hours

This is a long-assignment full-time position, with approximately 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will be required to work a regular schedule, with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
