About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Hotel Front Desk Associate to join our team at Nova Scotia Ltd. o/a HI Port Hawkesbury.

This is a full-time position, working approximately 30-40 hours per week.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Welcoming guests and assigning rooms in a timely manner;
  • Processing group arrivals and departures efficiently;
  • Managing room reservations, including taking, canceling, and changing reservations as needed;
  • Providing excellent customer service by answering questions about hotel facilities and services, as well as offering recommendations on local points of interest;
  • Exchanging foreign currency for guests;
  • Accurately calculating charges and receiving payments from departing guests;
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of vacancies, reservations, and room assignments;
  • Following established emergency and safety procedures;
  • Performing various clerical duties, such as faxing, filing, and photocopying;
  • Answering phone calls and relaying messages to other departments or guests;
  • Assisting guests with special needs and providing exceptional customer care;
  • Contacting guests to deliver requested wake-up calls;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A secondary (high) school graduation certificate;
  • Experience working in the hospitality industry, preferably in a front desk or reception capacity;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain attention to detail;
  • Basic computer knowledge, including proficiency in multi-line switchboard systems and word processing software;
  • Familiarity with central reservation systems (CRS) and internet technology;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • A positive attitude and a client-focused approach.
