About the Role:

The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for managing the recruitment process, ensuring a high standard of customer service and applying fair and equitable recruitment practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment process for various positions within the home
  • Assist managers with retention efforts to support high-quality resident care services
  • Guide and support department managers in the selection and hiring process
  • Coordinate the orientation process for newly hired team members
  • Provide guidance and assistance on HR issues including performance management, investigations, and maintaining accurate records
  • Implement the Team Member Attendance Management Program
  • Advise management on union-management relations and participate in labour meetings
  • Resolve employee grievances and complaints
  • Facilitate resolution of differing interpretations of the union contract
  • Oversee payroll and benefits administration
  • Ensure benefit plan documents are accurate
  • Support team member wellness and recognition initiatives
  • Participate in the Joint Occupational Health and Safety committee
  • Maintain records of staff incidents and produce monthly statistics
  • Oversee WSIB claims management and assist with the Early and Safe Return to Work Program
  • Liaise with IT Help Desk and IT Consulting firm on information technology issues

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in HR and office administration in a long-term care home or healthcare setting
  • Member of HRPAO (Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario)
  • Knowledge of government legislation and collective bargaining
  • Experience with recruitment and selection process
  • High level of composure and ability to work under pressure
  • Experience with HRIS/Payroll system
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Long term care Act and Regulations
  • Sound knowledge of accounts receivable, payable, and residents trust accounts
  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills

Salary and Benefits:

$65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. A comprehensive benefits package is offered, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a pension plan and paid time off.

Location:

This position is located at Tendercare Living Centre in Scarborough, Ontario.
