Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre Inc is seeking a Support Mentor to join our team. As a Support Mentor, you will work with individuals utilizing our services to provide harm reduction trauma-informed supports and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide resource referrals and distribute harm reduction supplies
  • Ensure safe access to the washroom facility
  • Provide onsite crisis management and build relationships with community members
  • Act in accordance with the Ma Mawi Code of Honour and Amoowigamig service philosophy

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 and related experience working with individuals living unsheltered
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships
  • Understanding of trauma and its impact on individuals
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and community issues
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work in high-stress situations
  • Strong working knowledge of community resources
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member
